TACKLING THE CHRISTMAS DINNER WHEN YOU'RE PACKING A BEARD
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go! Which is a beautiful treat on the eye, even more so the appetite if you're like me, as It's the most wonderful time of the year where you can fill your faces with as much festive grub as humanly possible until you can't manage a single bite.
If you are anything like me, your eyes might prove much more hungrier than your belly ca manage as you pile up your plate with monster mounts of turkey and all the luxurious trimmings, and then smother the food mountain on your plate with oceans of tasty rich flavoursome gravy for good measure. Whilst this all sounds seemingly mouth watering as we wish the christmas festivities could only kick start a little sooner, the chances are you're going to be surrounded by your most cherished loved ones this holiday season. And with that your table manners need to be on top form, as I doubt your mother-in-law wants to watch you smother your beard with half chewed food gloop. Certain foods can become a rather slippery task to chow down on without wearing it all over your furry chops. But of course we don't want to sacrifice our tasty Christmas dinner, so how do you work a way around eating your lunch, instead of mistakenly wearing it?
First of all without meaning to sound like your father, you need to make every mouthful you take just that, a mouth full and nothing more. As half of the challenge when eating tricky foods is making them more manageable to fit into your chops without spilling it everywhere over fuzz. Whilst certain foods, such as gravy covered meals are extra tricky to maneuver, they're not impossible. Just take a little time to figure it out how best to tackle it so you don't run the risk of chomping down on a mouthful of mustache in the process.
Once you've managed to enjoy the main course, out rolls the ever so tasty desserts. And when it comes to the sweet stuff it seems that the messier it appears on the eye the more tasty it becomes in the mouth. I'm the big greedy bearded dude who's guaranteed to be hands up for seconds should it be available. When it comes to runny foods like cream, ice cream, custard and other similar foods using the right tool for the job will only help eliminate the chances of spillages. If you are using a larger table spoon you're almost asking for trouble. And if you are one of those weird kind of folks who choose to use a fork where a fork has no business, in place of a spoon then you my furry faced friend are beyond help already.
Without meaning to sound like I'm teaching Grandmother to suck eggs (I bet that saying has thrown you off track a little? I'm being terribly British with that saying, have a Google!) but it's something I often get asked via email as well as my social media channels, so I thought I'd give you a few friendly pointers on what works best for me. Whatever you are doing throughout this festive holiday, I wish you and yours nothing but health, wealth and happiness. Oh and beard. Plenty of beard, but that's probably a given!
