It is that time of year once again, the one month where many men around the world stick up their middle ginger to the everyday 'norm', throw away their razors and shaving gels and flourish out a face full of fur all in the name of charity for 'No Shave November.'
Of course, I have a slight advantage here when it comes to participating in 'No Shave November', as I have had a beard to call my own for around three years now, and never would I ever consider being without it. But on the plus side of this I can help give you a 'fool proof' tried and tested guide on how best to grow the very most of your face whiskers as you participate in braving the no shave this November. So let us begin with How To Kick Start Your No Shave November Month...
This might seem like a rather pointless piece of advice, as it will be by far the most obvious one you shall read here today in our blog, but first things first, you have gotta let that stubble of yours grow out, Brother!
I appreciate things might feel a little scruffy in the first week or two, but do stick with it. That dreaded itching scruffy phase doesn't last for too long, and you can follow a few tips to help tackle that itch when it is at its very worst!
KEEP YOUR SKIN CLEAN AND FLAKE FREE!
Now you have a furry face to work with you have to help keep that fuzz fresh and clean. And how? I hear you ask, with beard wash and conditioner, of course!
Yep, just like you care for the hair upon your head, your furry face requires just as much love and plenty of TLC, and it is never too soon to take care of your fur either, no matter how long or short it might be.
Don't be tempted to use over the counter shampoos and conditioners, as they were made from much harsher chemicals in order to serve their purpose of keeping your hair clean. Using these on your face might cause nasty sores and further still, dry out your skin in the process which could cause beard dandruff. So think wise before you buy!
TIME TO INVEST IN A LITTLE BEARD BALM AND OIL!
So, you have a freshly grown face of whiskers that are feeling a touch uncomfortable and a little stranger than you are used to feeling. How can you restore a little control here? Simple! use a little beard balm and/or oil.
The amount of times I hear folks tell me that they do not use any beard care product, such as oils, balms and butters as they feel that their facial hair is a little too short, or a little too young amazes me. And I will give you the same advice today as I would give them. It is never too soon to start practicing an essential grooming routine, and yes, that does include using oils and balms.
Think of your face if you will much like a patch of soil that you would grow veggies within. To give your veg seeds the best chance possible you want rich, healthy, vitalised soil, right? Well, think of your face in the same light, taking great care of your skin will give your facial hair a fighting chance into growing out to the very best of its ability. So invest wisely my friend, your face whiskers are relying on it.
IT WILL SOON BE TIME TO START COMBING THROUGH THAT GLORIOUS FACE GRUFF OF YOURS!
Whilst your facial hair might be fairly young and short as of right now, things will be sure to change as the weeks of November (and hopefully beyond!) unfold. As your beard meets a certain length you might want to consider investing a few quid on a trusty beard comb.
These cool kits come in a variety of shapes, shades and sizes, just be sure you select the right tool for the job, as those cheap plastic fine toothed combs often pull and snag your hairs causing more harm than good. So, be sure to do your homework before splashing out for a pocket beard comb. Check out our range right here for more info.
