I love researching on the worldwide interwebs. No, not just for funny cat videos or for the latest moves out there... Dance moves that is! (What do you take me for?) But for interesting 'beardy facts' to then further research such 'facts' to see if they are indeed what they claim to be or nothing more than made up internet fiction. Today I am pleased to confirm a small collection of my recent findings and report them all to be very much true! As I present to you 4 Rather Interesting Beard Facts You Probably Didn't know...
MORE MEN NOW SPORT SOME FORM OF FACIAL HAIR THAN NOT!
It's slowly happening! Beards are officially beginning to take over the world! In recent reports gathered at the beginning of 2016 it's findings report that a new whopping 55% of men sport or have sported some form of facial hair. Meaning beards really are as glorious as we have always believed them to be and are now more popular than they ever have been before. That is a rather impressive statistic I'm sure you'd agree!
THE KING OF HEARTS IS THE ONLY KING TO NOT HAVE A MOUSTACHE IN A DECK OF PLAYING CARDS!
A rather puzzling fact, but a fact nevertheless! The King of Hearts is indeed the only King in a pack of playing cards who hasn't grown out some form of moustache. I can only assume his Mrs being the Queen of Hearts doesn't care too much for that 'tash rash' when the go for gold. Either that or she is a secret gold digger who is knocking off the King of Diamonds on the quiet. After all he does pack the most impressive beard-mane and handlebar moustache in the entire deck doesn't he!
THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS WERE SLIGHTLY OBSESSED WITH BEARDS!
It's safe to say you don't have to go searching the web to recall how symbolic beards were to the Egyptians in ancient times. Often viewed as a religious symbol of strength, wealth and power every Pharaoh had to proudly display a false beard (Even the females!) which were often made from a rather heavy sheeted gold. And as one Pharaoh fell and his riches were passed onto the next, so would the false man made golden beard. Quite the heirloom I'd say!
THE IRRATIONAL FEAR OF BEARDS IS CALLED POGONOPHOBIA!
Wait a minute? People are actually fearful of our wonderful beards? That alone is a little difficult to digest! But sadly it is true! Not everyone digs beards, so much so that there's even a word for it - Pogonophobia. Sounds like some black magic chant if you ask me, but according to the dictionary it' a legitimate word which means - 'An extreme dislike of beards and other forms of facial hair growth.' I still claim this so called phobia to be a form of madness, and suggest anyone who may have this come and give me a big sloppy kiss in order to eradicate such worries you may have moving on forward.
Well, that wraps up another beard blog post for today. As always give us your thoughts in the comments section kindly provided below.
